I AM SHIT-BRICKS EXCITED.

Fuck everything else that I need to buy like a new computer, clothes that don't make me look like a crackhead, and toilet paper. I won't even be getting up to use the bathroom anyway. AND WHO NEEDS CLOTHES? Naked Skyrim ftw. No one visits me anyway. /slit

So in case you haven't heard, which the only excuse for that would be being deaf or dead, Skyrim comes out next month. Skyrim is a massive open-ended fantasy game and the newest edition to the Elder Scrolls series. It is set 200 years after the previous chapter, Oblivion. There is the main quest line, but you may complete that at your leisure as there is an ass load of side quests and general things to fuck around doing. If you are not into fantasy games and have never played any of the other Elder Scrolls games, Fallout 3 also had an open ended gameplay experience.

Character development is an integral part of Skyrim. At the beginning of the game, you are able to choose between many humanoid and anthropomorphic races, each of which has different natual abilites. For example, the Khajit make good thieves an assassins, and Nords are natural warriors and are resistant to the cold. In fact, Skyrim is actually the Nord's homeland, and is very cold.




There are a few things that have changed in Skyrim in relation to previous Elder Scroll games and Fallout. First of all, they are using a completely rewritten graphics and game engine so there will be a lot more detail and better AI. They call this new gaming engine the Creation Engine. However, if playing on the PC (Best gaming platform) it will take some serious hardware to be able to run it smoothly. It's worth buying a new computer for, though.

Another thing that is improved upon from previous games is the way the quest system works. The main quest line will relatively be the same, with a few surprising side events. However, no 2 games will ever be the same with side quests, NPCs, and even terrain.  Depending on what your character has done quest content, location, and characters will change. There is also talk of an in-depth crime system (for if you just want to go off and hurt people and cause havoc) and also different types of jails.

One thing they carried over from Fallout is the use of Perks. When you level up, you get to pick a perk that will effect your character and style of play. However, in Skyrim they took perks a step further and you actually get perk trees, kind of like a skill tree. This is shown in the form of constellations. As you develop your character, the game draws your own custom constellation in the stars. They also changed attributes in the game. They completely got rid of acrobatics and athleticism, and also mysticism. They also traded in the different weapon skills (blunt, slashing, etc.) for one handed and two handed combat. You can also duel wield spells now, which will make the spells stronger and can even make them mix for a completely new spell.

Previous Elder Scrolls games made use of a class system  to determine which skills would contribute to the character's leveling, but its removal in Skyrim allows for a preferred play-style to be developed naturally.You are also able to marry in Skyrim, and they have even included same sex marriage which I am personally excited about.

Needless to say, I am probably going to be missing in action for a really long time after the game comes out. We have release-date delivery so it will be dropped on our porch ON 11/11/11. Fuck yeah.
